New 'Do

Look #1
Ok - so in retrospect, as i look at these pics, my hair looks like a frizzy mess. But..in my defense - i NEVER do my hair. And this is why i decided to do this post. I've always taken pride in my ability to shower and go. i have a slight wave in my hair so I never put product in my hair. I sometimes attempt to put my hair up or even put a clip in my hair, but everytime, during my last look in the mirror located by my front door, i take my hair down. i have no clue why. maybe my hair is my security blanket.
But one day recently, it hit me. My hair is one of the few things I can actually focus on that could change my overall look without breaking the bank. I have no clue why i only realized this now - maybe i'm hitting my midlife crisis early?
So there are my first two attempts at "doing" my hair.
Look #1
- used Victoria's Secret root lifter (here's a HUGE secret - guys go gaga over the smell of Victoria's Secret hair products - their R&D team really did their due diligence)
- let hair air dry
- used a 1 1/2" curling iron and curled a few pieces of hair around the crown
- used my favorite jcrew headband
Look #2
- same as above expect put my hair in a high ponytail
- used the end of a rattail comb (ok - who am i kidding -i didn't have a rat tail comb so i used a pen lol )and added some height at the top of my head for depth.
It will only get better from here right? :P

Who's Karen
i'm 32 years old and I have no clue who Karen is. You would think at this age, i would have it all figured out, but i'm still here wondering what i'm meant to do in this world.
In a nutshell, I'm a mom and a wife. I'm the oldest of 3 girls. I'm the daughter of the most giving parents. I'm filipino-american. I have a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems but have a work background in corporate retail. I left the corporate world and my home of NJ/NY to be with my husband in Minneapolis. I took matters into my own hands and became a serial entrepreneur-from a event marketing company, to a jewelry designer, to a co-owner of a luxe jewelry company with my sisters. My husband and I unwillingly got relocated to Atlanta for his work with Delta airlines. As nice as the move sounded, it came at a bad time since it was smack in the middle of my pregnancy. We love Atlanta but we haven't given it a chance to make it a true home.
So, as you can see, much like my blogs, my life has been all over the place. Its a great experience, but i also feel like i don't get to make a true mark in any given place. Thus contributing to my identity crisis. Am i a tough New Yorker, a label loving Jersey girl, a Minnesota "nice" girl, or a southern belle?
My hope is that, as i read these posts next year, i'll be able to figure out who Karen really is.

A new beginning
So, here I am writing a new post for a new blog. Much like my life, i keep fluttering around jumping from blog to blog for different aspects of my life. So, my new year's resolution for the new year of 2012 is to commit to this blog and join all aspects of my life in this "online journal" if you will.
Just to give you an idea of my nomadic life in blog format, here are the homes of my previous blogs:
http://www.designsbykcayetano.blogspot.com/ - a blog about my life as a new jewelry designer and startup company
http://www.pregnantandfab.blogspot.com/ - a blog about my life, awaiting the arrival of my little blessing, I continued blogging until my baby boy was 9 months, at which point i realized the title of the blog really wasn't appropriate anymore
http://www.cayetanolegacy.blogspot.com/ - this is a current blog my sisters and I update regarding our business "The Cayetano Legacy Collection" which is composed of statement necklaces made of genuine gemstones such as amethyst, jade, turquoise, fresh water pearls, etc. All of our designs are handmade making each piece unique. As fun as it is to contribute to this blog, its not all mine. And i really wanted an outlet to share my own life and so, Karen's Legacy, was born.
http://www.karenslegacy.blogspot.com/ - is my gift to myself for 2012 and beyond. I have a lot of friends and family but its still a bit of a lonely world and this is my avenue to share my goings on, my feelings, things i've learned a long the way, and so much more.
I'd like to categorize this blog by the important topics in my life
- motherhood
- family/marriage
- fashion/beauty
- friendship
- fitness
- business
- advice
- travel
- depression
- decor/holiday
i think that covers it, but i wouldn't be surprised if this changes throughout the year. we'll see :) so if you're reading this, thank you for following me on this journey of my life.
